CUPERTINO, California—July 13, 2007—Apple reveals a prototype to its revolutionary iPhone™, designed and built in the mid 1990s. The idea was thrown out due to weight and portability issues.
The planned device included a 1.3 megapixel Olympus Camera, a 64MB Rio MP3 player and a GSM 1.0 Motorola 'Brick' Mobile Phone. The device r.r.p. was to be $2300, weighed 1.1kg (2.4lb) and would only work up a hill very near GSM 1.0 masts.
Photoshop elements fun - this was the original Darth iPod!
